Local Phoenix Owner Wins Pharmacist Of The Year
Pharmacy Development Services, Inc., a business development and marketing coaching firm specifically for elite independent pharmacy owners has named Teresa Stickler, R.Ph, Owner of Melrose Pharmacy in Phoenix, AZ, the 2010 Pharmacist of the Year.
The Pharmacist of the Year is selected annually based on the commitment to the wellbeing of their customers and local community, dedication to the growth of their team and business, and contributions to the independent pharmacy profession.
Stickler opened Melrose Pharmacy in 2005 with a commitment to offer an extraordinary pharmacy experience through unique services, care for patients, and a family-oriented approach that is unsurpassed by mega-store pharmacies.
In an industry that seems to be dominated by large chain pharmacies, Stickler and the other community pharmacy owners who work with Pharmacy Development Services, have carved out a growing niche of patient-centric pharmacies that are dedicated to treating patients correctly the first time and every time without losing attention to their communities’ time, intelligence and hard-earned dollar. Melrose Pharmacy distinguishes itself with a focus on weight management, advancing women’s health through hormone replacement therapy and compounding, medication adherence, as well as common health and preventive practices.
In addition to the commitment to her patients, Stickler is also an industry leader when it comes to supporting fellow independent pharmacies. Her contributions and insights as the Arizona Pharmacy Alliance Community Pharmacy Academy Chair have inspired independent pharmacy owners from across the state to band together and discuss the issues they face, such as mandatory mail order.
Being active in the community is a major part of the Melrose Pharmacy identity. With the help of her team, Stickler donated $2,500 to AIDS walk, was voluntarily placed on “house arrest” to raise funds (bail money) for Muscular Dystrophy and also provided prenatal vitamins at cost to the March of Dimes to distribute to those in need in the community. Additionally, Melrose Pharmacy and Stickler are at the forefront of encouraging the Phoenix community to spend their monies at independently owned business to help stimulate and support the local economy.
